It reaches the starter easily. The alternator has a plug (not sure of the wire color, but it is plugged in, the high amp wire, and the red wire.
I replaced the AOS with the same as it had. Is there any other way for oil to get into the manifold? There was so much oil on top of the engine that it created an oil slick behind the car as it sloshed off. It appeared to be coming mainly from the butterfly valve in the forward manifold tube.
