Woah. You can break some tabs that way. The way it is intended to be removed is this...

Look under the rear edge of the wing and along with those tabs you will also see 4 holes. You insert a screw driver into the hole, press a plastic hook molded into the painted part away from a metal tab built into the black metal part.

If you remove an end cap by prying it gently off with a small screw driver, you can watch yourself as you release the endmost hook with a screwdriver. That will help you to understand what you're doing and how hard to press the screwdriver into the hole to release each of the 4 hooks. If you press too hard, you could break a hook.

As you release each hook, you can then more easily press the painted part backward and release the visible tabs under the rear edge of the painted part. Work your way down from one end to the other.

Hope that helps somebody keep from damaging the painted part.
