Some newer cars like my A6 have / can be setup for the LED brake lights to flash rapidly under "hard" braking situations. That is a great idea, as flashing light attract the eye much quicker than a solid brake light.

But with our cars, getting rear ended is a big concern. The big SUV behind might take an extra 80ft to stop from 70 mph than the Boxster.
