As for my own experience, I was in an accident with my other car where someone clips my rear side bumper while he was merging. Without the video clip it's hard to proof whether I merged into him or he merged into me, so before I email the clip to the insurance company they were going to settle as 50/50 as there is the "No Fault" law in NY and I would have lost $500 deductible for a $1,100 repair. Dash cams are so popular in Asia and Russia, you never know what you'll catch while driving, just search YouTube. I installed dash cams on every car I owned for those "just in case" moments.
