+1 on the starter drive, the biggest clue is the squeal, no battery can cause that. The dealer sounds like Chucky Cheese. I use a battery tender in the winter but some owners pull their batteries for inside storage. You would have a lot of peeved owners if they had to pay eighty beans to turn an idiot light off every spring.
