Sorry Redmond - but you are right, the world is full of people who could care less about anyone else but themselves. I have often felt that while one can understand the motivation for theft per se (and hopefully, deter the same by making it unprofitable), those who commit wanton and reckless damage are much more difficult to deter - i.e., they get enjoyment out of harming others with no material profit to themselves. I have so far been lucky with the hood ornament on my Boxster, but I had the one on my old 944 stolen 4 times in 2 years. In order to avoid further damage to paintwork, I actually thought of installing it with velcro! I don't think you can go with a larger crest and, sadly, short of repainting your hood, you can only use touch-up paint. However, since your hood has been damaged, have you given any thought to making a claim on your insurance?
