Hi JT,

The 'remove the bumperettes' item Charlie refers to is a cleaning trick that John Leach passed on. With just an allen wrench, the bumperettes can be taken off, allowing you to both:
*treat them without hitting the paint finish w/preservative, and
*polish the bumper's paint finish without getting any residue on the plastic part.

When you're done detailing, you just reverse it to put them back on... and it sounds like that might not be a minute too soon, given your story!
