911 Cab? pfft...
just kidding. But I read a scathing Brittish review of the 997 Cab in which it was reported that a professional driver promptly returned his 997 Cab (which replaced his previous 996 Cab) after putting up with an unnerving rear axle condition during cornering.
They concluded that you will never get Boxster handling out a 997 minus the roof and pillars. Cabs are very nice and go very fast but at the heart of it is a compromised Sports car. Which is why we have the BOxster. Never mind all that "cheaper Porsche talk" The Boxster: after the diagrams were done, the Porsche dudes were informed that the car would cost not less than $80K to make. Obviously budget wasn't a big enough initial consideration otherwise they wouldn't have had to call in some Japanese production and assembly experts to tell them how to bring down the cost of Porsche's first full blooded convertible.
actually it may be the only full blooded convertible, Not sure if the CGT was intended to be LeMans Racer with open cockpit or not.

p.s.
I always find it interesting to see how many used Cab's are being sold vs tin tops. Dare I say most Porsche owners of these car want to look cool rather than test the "there is no subsitute" mantra?
