AFAIK, that silver-painted horsecollar around the shifter is only available if you buy one of the "Exclusive" shift knobs, and it comes with it. I have the black leather Exclusive knob, and my horsecollar was simply sprayed silver by the factory, resulting in a curious rough-surfaced finish which is different than the other "alum-look" parts I have on my car, like the 3-pc dash strips or the alum finish on the shift knob itself.
I have to wonder if the same horsecollar isn't under the leather boot of the standard knob. If so, all you need to do is obtain a standard knob, strip off the leather, clean it up, and if so desired, rattle-can spray it silver.
Since I am not crazy about the mismatched rough surface, I have been contemplating merging my old standard knob's boot with the very nice Exclusive shift knob.
