The crank pulley is just that - a pulley bolted directly onto the crankshaft, so IF you've pinned down the noise correctly, its the crank main bearings or end float thats making the noise.

I think I read somewhere that if you push the clutch in and the noise goes away it could possibly be exessive crankshaft end float.....
