I've now sunk $40k into the purchase, repair, and modifications on a boxster over the course of 8 years, now worth $9500 on a good day.

This includes 8 oil changes, 3 sets of tires, and a set of pads and discs and a clutch in addition to dozens of genuine repairs (vs. wear items).

The first 3 years were brutal. My wife wouldn't speak to me at times. What a f'ing money pit! One thing after another broke or leaked or rattled or creaked... Oh my.

But now it's very dependable. And it should be, dammit!
