It does have visual and audible alarm, so you don't have to constantly stare at the display. Modern tire construction can make flats hard to detect until they are very low, especially if you are on the highway, where even moderately low pressures can lead to overheated tires, and a potential blowout. Your car has a factory TPMS, so I agree it would have little benefit.
