If this was a Boxster S, I would think that using the same 3.4 liter M96 engine used in the later 987 Boxster S would be an update as allowed in ASP, but with this being a standard Boxster with improvements / updates it gets confusing to me.

Either way whether ASP or SSM, you may be way outgunned without many more improvements (wider sticky tires, coil overs, sways, LSD, adjustable camber, etc). Obviously it's always best to start with studying the rule book before buying or modifying the car in any way.
