"I find it incredibly hard to believe that Chevrolet could make a more resiliant clutch/flywheel combination than the storied, race-bred machines of Stuttgart......"

Well, not to start WW3 here but yes, I think the Corvette is built to a much higher "abuse standard" than the Boxster or 911. I fail to see how the "race bred" label has translated into a bullet proof drivetrain for these cars.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Porsche line. However, if I was buying a car to track and punish in general, it would be a C5 or C6 Corvette, not a 911 Turbo as an example.

IMHO!

BTW-in the latest issue of Panorama, the tech section addresses the oil leak/RMS issue for the current Boxer engine. Sad to say, this discussion essentially indicates that the RMS issue is a engine/clutch/trans design issue, not a simply a bad seal.

Since that issue started in 1997, I was frankly dumbfounded to find that Stuttgart designed the problem and then did not fix it.

Weird, maybe my standards are too high?
