When you consider it objectively, the Boxster has no more badging than any other car. It's the fact that it's a Porsche and the crest is kind of multi-colored 'bling-bling' compared to say Honda's "H" that makes it more noticeable. Consider the Boxster, next to the lowly Honda Accord sedan, just for example:

Hood designation (company symbol):

Box - Yes
Honda - Yes

Wheel caps designation (company symbol)

Box - Yes
Honda - Yes

Model Name

Box - Yes
Honda - Yes

Engine or trim-level designation (S, V6, LX etc.)

Box - Yes (S only)
Honda - Yes

The only place where it is overboard might be on the calipers, hardly noticeable, and on the 987 glass window when it's top-up.

In fact, I got the PORSCHE lettering on the windstop just in case I came across a cave-dweller who didn't know what the car was....not to mention that it looks sweet !
