This is for 2001 thru 2004 models. For 1997 thru 2000 you unlock the door with the key then put the key in the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position.

I had to perform this re-sync when reconnecting the car battery after being disconnected for a week. And I have performed this on remotes after replacing the batteries or have not used for a long time.

The keyless entry function is suppose to turn off if the car is not started for five days to prevent the car battery from draining.
