last year i purchased a headlight from ebay to replace my faded driver's side (US / LEFT) headlight. it was noted to be from a 996, but i did not realize what that meant. the headlight is good, i used it for a while before restoring my original light.
the only noticeable difference between this and the 986 headlight is the trim around the light. on the boxster it's clear, on the 911 it's shaded gray. no one noticed unless i pointed it out to them and generally had to show them what i meant. but in the interest of full disclosure i wanted to make it clear to any potential buyers.
light works great, no issues. there is a small "scuff" near the middle of the light. it includes all bulbs and the corner trim. if your light is broken / cracked / severely faded this is a good intermediate step until you decide what to do - replace with litronics, aftermarket, etc...
