After the mountain run my initial feeling was NO I don't like the steering but he came over to my place this afternoon and I got to take it for a spin on roads I'm more familiar with and it grew on me for sure. I could blog about my experience with the car for a long time

You know I haven't tracked a car yet so I'm in the learning phases. I grew up in a very snowy and icy area and road dirk bikes and anything I could get my hands on through the farm fields I have a good bit of natural ability, I just haven't' had formal teaching. I know how to hit the apex of a turn on an open road but I have taught myself with my Boxster to stay exactly between the yellow and white lines in a road. I found this very difficult with the 911, I found myself using every bit of yellow and white and created my own apexes in turns, very much like I learned as a young man speeding through the Adirondacks of NY with old clunkers.

Today when we took it out I worked harder to drive it like the Boxster and was finally able. The car is amazing, it seems (or maybe actually does) the steering wheel has to be turned more to accomplish the same thing the Boxster does.

One of my favorite features is how Sport Mode down shifts based on how much pre-turn braking you do. Once I learned it will do this I was able to drive with amazing confidence. Truly an awesome feature!

I can imagine the car is very fast beast on a track, each time my friend said he thought I had pushed to 9/10s I told him I felt it had so much more. You see in the Boxster I can feel it start to give a little and have almost learned its limits. On the 911 I never felt like I reach the limits, besides I always could feel and knew the PSM was watching over me.

As for breaking in...welllllll....we did talk to the Porsche Engineer that came for the unavailing and he said he didn't agree with it, he said it should be pushed at times for proper break in. So did we wait...no...I did Launch Control twice. If you have never done this it is simply amazing. The car has a G gauge on it and one can see what they are pulling. It showed a Launch Control G of .92 and trust me I have never felt anything like it. I was able on one 90 degree turn to pull 1.16g, I felt it had so much more too.

While on the trip to the mountains I was wishing at times I was back in the Boxster, after today's little drive around I will say the 911 is awesome. It really is not the same experience as the Boxster, if I had my way I would have one of each, it's like having two great girlfriends, both have qualities that make every day a blast.
