I performed the OBC hack with the VW wire/connector part. I would NOT recommend fabricating your own using a molex connector. The fit between the wire and the molex connector must be EXTREMELY tight, and you're not going to get that by squeezing it on with a pair of pliers or whatever.
Given the amount of time and effort it takes to do this job, it's not worth skimping on that one part, IMHO.
