IMHO replacing with clears adds an "updated" look to a car, as recent trends among automakers have been away from using amber. As you know, the 987 comes with amber side-markers in the States, and I replaced mine with clears. Much "cleaner" look, since the side-markers were the only ambers on the car.

Most DMV regulations are the same as in Cali, where when replacing with clears, the bulbs must still give off an amber light. Occasionally, out here in Cali, you'll see people who go with clears and also a "white"/non-amber bulbs as their flashing turn indicator. This situation is the one that's illegal. An aftermarket option for this scenario is available where the orange bulb is coated with a silver substance, so it doesn't show as amber through the clear until it's blinking.
