OK, I've raced my 2000 Boxster S trans since 2004. All original except a light weight flywheel and Guards Transmission LSD. It is mated to a 3.6L '05 996 motor. We are pulling the box out and replacing the pressure plate and clutch. While it's out, I'm looking for ideas and info regarding any options for changing gear sets or Ring and Pinion while its out. The car is a dedicated race car. Not street Legal.

Has anyone made these changes? Who did they buy from? Was it noticeable on track?

Any input or ideas would be welcomed.
I just changed my trans and put another stock one in (custom gear changes are not legal in my class). I have seen this done on older 911 Carreras to good effect. Gearing it down will increase torque and sacrifice top speed. If the fastest track you run is 140 mph, no sense in having a gearbox that tops out at 180... Just wasted torque. As I recall custom gearing was big $$$ though. I'll probably wait until Team Penske calls to ad me to their pro driving team. Do you need it to win a championship?
