Radio/Wiring intrigue
I am hoping that the collective wisdom here may help me prevail over the wiring problems I am having with my 2001 3.6 conversion. I will simply state the facts so that any assumptions I might have will not cloud judgement.
1. 2001 wiring harness with 2004 engine, DME is US 3.6 X51 ( I did not do the work, it was professionally done)
2. The CDR-220 radio comes on instantly when the motor is not running and operates properly.
3. When all codes are cleared on the DME the radio will not come on while the motor is running for about the first five minutes. Eventually it will come on and act normal.
4. If the secondary O2 sensors have tripped a code then the radio will come on a few minutes quicker
5. If you use the electric windows the radio turns off then back on.
6. I installed an AUX ipod cable on the CDR 220 and left the ipod plugged in and it drained the battery in an hour. The ipod was fairly warm as well. After I jumped the car, I raised and lowered the windows a few times and the single touch feature did not return to operation.
All of the above problems are eliminated simply by not trying to listen to the radio but I occasionally want to and wish for it to work properly.
It is a strange thing indeed.
