This is the second time I've seen this stated. Does Porsche really call the switch that detects the opening of the door and the resulting auto roll-down of the window a regulator?

In american cars, the scissors-like metal arms inside the door that the window mounts to is called a regulator.

It doesn't surprise me that they would use different terminology, it's just the fact that the same term is used for two completely different functions.

After posting the above, I found the following link:

I shows a Porsche regulator... and it's what I described. It is the mechanism that would move the window, whether manually or automatically. I'd assume that it has the timer or sensor built in to do the partial roll-down as well.
