Good question,

I don't think there was any danger in my last pass. I was on the far right of the track and he was on the far left, there were maybe 10 feet of space between our cars before he started to turn in. It was 90 degree turn and even someone with tunnel vision eventually looks where the car is heading, so he saw me with enough time to spare.

The "hairy" situation was when I tried to pass him in turn 2. He had no "situational awareness" at all. You can see in the video that I slammed on the brakes full force (watch the g-meter go to -1.5 g due to acceleration).

Had we touched here this could have been messy. But in all fairness, when I go to the track, doing damage to the car is a very real possibility and this is something I am willing to risk. Actually, as they say "only take your car to the track if you can afford to loose it", so I hope that everyone who goes to the track is prepared too.
But again, his was a very expensive collector's car and mine a 10 year old used car, worth maybe under $20k.
