BTW... a window regulator is the scissor-shaped mechanism that is inside of the door. The glass attaches to one end of it, and the other has gear teeth to allow either a manual window crank or an electric motor to move it.

If you think of a pair of scissors standing upright, the top of the scissor is tallest when closed, and shortest when opened. Attach a window to the top and you get the idea of how it works. Close the scissor, the window is up. Open the scissor, the window is down.
