I Purchased my '02 Boxster 2 months ago and I have always heard a strange type of tapping, knocking, ticking, whatever you want to call it, type sound coming from the engine. When I do a fresh cold start it is a tad more noticeable, but slightly dies down just a bit after it is warmed up. I can hear it the loudest when I put my ear to the passenger side vent, and when I accelerate, the knocking sound speeds up right with the engine.
