As well as making sure that all the air is out of the system as per jacabean & ddb suggests, if the water pump impeller broke up, just make sure that you removed (or account for) all the broken off pieces...A lot of bits can lodge in the thermostat housing for instance
It has been known that the broken plastic from the impeller can block in the cylinder head coolant passageways with not very nice results....
