How does slapping a body kit on a Fiero somehow make the car worth 20x what it would be stock?

There was a Boxster based CarreraGT and a 959 bodied 911 neither of which were convincing enough to make you think it was the real thing. Both were asking more than the donor was worth for no more value add that I can see? Anyone else surprised?
