Really, it just helps keep the engine from collecting deposits in the fuel system. Keeps your injectors from clogging and such. Deposits in the system can cause the engine to run poorly or go beyond the thresholds of the 02 sensors. You can buy bottles of it at most auto parts stores if you don't have a Chevron nearby.
