The brain in the car has a method of shutting down cylinders when redlining occurs so one does not blow the engine.
I'm betting your problem lies in another area and for another reason...so sorry to hear this has happened to you! I'll say a prayer that it's not terribly expensive. Do report back on this thread as to what happened and how much it was to repair.
