THanks, blue, I think I'll be going for a red top and a negative cable.
regarding the "round the block" thing, I never take the car out for a drive less than 20 miles, I was just making a point of how I couldn't get the car out right now to even take it down the street if I wanted to. I learned from you guys on here that short drives that don't put the car through its paces do more harm than good.
