well if the noise only happens when braking it's not the IMS
The loud pop (or bang) when pulling the e-brake while driving is normal (at least mine does that too).
Take the wheels off and look at your rotors and brake pads
It "might" be that the e-brake shoes got stuck but then you would see (and smell) a lot of brake dust
