Changed Motor Mount and Fuel Filter Today

Today I put in a new motor mount that I bought from Sunset Imports for $100. I was having some vibrations around 3k rpm and an occasional clunk when down shifting 5->4 (tiptronic) so figured that it was time to replace. I just turned over 75k miles this past week. What a PITA to change. Not the most difficult, just a pain to do in the close quarters under the car. The top passenger side bolt was real difficult to turn. Skinned my knuckles real good and unfortunately taught my 11 year old some new words.

While I had the panels off, I also changed the fuel fuel filter that I bought on eBay seller drivingsource for $37. Also another PITA. As careful as possible, I disconnected the plug, had a drain tub ready and still got a nose and mouthful of gas .

Neither of these were technically difficult, maybe a 2. But in frustration, I'd give them a both 6.

I had the car up on ramps but still had mere inches to maneuver under there. I think a lift has to be in my future.

Good news at the end though, car seem to have responded well. I felt no vibration on the test drive and shifting feels smooth. My old mount wasn't as bad as I expected but the rubber was torn so it needed the TLC.

I used pedro's diy for both jobs
