There are a few reasons for these:

1. They are adjustable length. This can sometimes be needed with different setups, as a lower ride height, etc. can make additional adjustment needed to get the car back in alignment.

2. They are stronger than OEM.

3. They have solid rod ends and can be replaced to get rid of squeaky stock bushings. Many of these cars as they get older start getting the annoying little suspension squeaks.
