I used a product called "Goof Off" (www.goof-off.com). I imagine that it is available internationally. It softend the adhesive enough to scrape/rub it off with a phenolic scraper.

Phenolic is a material that used to be used to make old circuit boards. I got the scraper from www.aircraft-tool.com. It took a LOT of scraping and rubbing. You must be careful to scrape only with the flat of the scraper, the corner could scratch the wheel. I hope this helps.
