That's a bad feelling ain't it? When you're braking and braking and you just KNOW you don't have quite enough space between you and the stopped vehicle in front of you.

I did that a couple of winters ago (not in the Boxster). Driving in the snow, a lot of traffic, slick, curvy roads in the Cleveland area, probably going no faster than 30-35 mph. Wasn't paying close attention, I guess, maybe changing the radio station, when I noticed the car in front of me STOPPED a few car-lengths away. Hit the brakes, knowing full well I didn't have the distance I needed to stop. Slowed down as much as I could until the last sec (skidding, basically), then let up on the brakes, yanked the wheel to the right, and ended up in someone's front lawn, adrenaline-rushing like crazy, fingernails digging into the steering wheel.
