I think they stayed as close to the original prototype as they could but had to make some compromises (like adding the soft top, move the intakes up so they would not suck every cigarette but into the engine etc) |
If you saw how small the concept is in person, you'd realize that the production car is about 5/4 scale. The concept is about the same size as the Miata. The original 2.5 would have made the concept car a rocket. They remained somewhat close in styling (not enough), but not in size. Also, when the car was first announced, it was going to be about $10k cheaper than it ended out selling for.
