Wow, you hit the nail on the head. I love, "I was driving a 375 HP $12,000 car" and "appliances for speed". I had an '02 WRX which I modified to over 300 HP. Fast car and EVERYONE wanted to race me (and almost all lost). I don't regret having owned it, but I don't really look back. My Boxster and C4S are soooooooooooo much nicer inside, much sexier to look at, and better engineered overall. I could jump into either and drive across the country with a smile on my face the whole way! Like this...
