adding water to my battery

I know I must add distilled water to my Porsche low-maintenance battery when it is low, and it appears to be low.

There's a small plastic piece that I can see when I look into the holes that appears to be a top-off line for the water. The unbearable heat we've had in Houston over the last couple of months, plus the fact I've never checked the water level in the battery since I put it in a couple of years ago is probably why it is low.

Am I correct in assuming this plastic bit I see is where the fluid line should be?

I'm going to try adding distilled water to the battery to see if it works better before replacing it. Thanks for any help you guys can offer me on this.
