I got it back in before the storm. I guess I panicked when I saw the dark clouds suddenly appearing.

I know you may have already done this but the Bentley book implies that you must get the top in the service mode to replace the air filter. You don't have to just work inside the car. This applies to replacing the groovy belt as well. You might have to donce from one side of the car to another but its one thing you do not have to do especially if you may have a storm. Just keep the top up almost 4 inches from opening and work for here.
