That's EXACTLY how my window cracked. I was guilty of raising top several times last yr. in sub-50 weather even though I could tell the vinyl was getting brittle. And I was too lazy to do the "chop" when retracting the top. I've learned my lesson and when I get a new top, I will NEVER operate it below 50 degrees and will always push the window midway through retraction.
