I used to do this as well. I would fill a bucket with my wheel brush, under carriage brush, soft top brush (oxo feather tip), sheepskin glove, waffle weave drying towel, my own car wash soap and toss in the front trunk. Basically I would only use their water.
You can also go to Home Depot and buy a 2 gallon fertilizer sprayer ($15) and fill it with water. A few pumps and it puts out nice pressure stream. Two gallons is plenty to clean off the paint.
