Guys,

EBC red pads use a ceramic liner instead of copper or steel. They vibrate at a higher frequency than a normal pad. When broken in, they squeal, but not at a level that humans can hear. They probaly drive dogs crazy though. They also come with a special backing plate provided by EBC that keep vibration down. All they should need is to be broken in and they will be fine.

EBC is very specific about the break-in procedure because they have a special break-in liner on the pad surface. You are NOT supposed to do hard stops while first breaking in these pads, it will damage the disks. You have to follow the instructions from the manufacturer.

Finally, highway miles are not break-in miles. You need to do the kind of light stop and go type driving that is recommended by EBC.

Some of these suggestions may be good for other brake pads, but not for these pads.
