Wierd squeek from front wheel

I took my car to one of those small local shops yesterday to get it smogged. Today I noticed a very loud squeeking coming from my front driver side wheel. I didn't notice this sound yesterday, but I m not discounting the fact that it could have been there, just not as noticeable or loud since I had my stereo on. Perhaps it got worse today where I am noticing it.

Any time I turn the wheel, to either side, there's no squeeking while I turn the wheel. As soon as the car start moving forward though (with the wheels still turned), even at 2-3mph (in neutral, rolling down hill), there's a really loud and noticeable squeeking. In a straight line though, there's no squeeking, or none that I could notice. The sound is like two pieces of metal rubbing very hard against each other.

I called the shop and told them this, and they said just come by tomorrow and they'll take a look. I told them I don't know if it would be safe to drive it like that or it might make the problem worse. They told me don't worry, if the problem wasnt there yesterday, I probably wont make it worse. That made no sense to me. I think I'll be towing it just to be safe. Its only a few miles away anyways.

But the thing that I am concerned about is that they tripped the ABS light while doing the smog because in their words 'we had to run it on two wheels'.

I don't know. Any thing you guys could suggest to check ? Could this possibly be a broken control arm or anything serious?

This is my first time using this shop for my box. I've taken some hondas here before .. and my entire family takes their car here .. lexus, honda, acuras, mitsus .. ect ect .. but I don't know if I entirely trust this shop. He was making some jokes about leaving it over night so he can take it for a joy ride. I laughed thinking it was a joke, but now not so sure.
