It would
seem very simple. Just unscrew the vent, remove it carefully, tape, sand and prep it (using denatured alcohol?) and then primer followed by light base coats and eventually clear. I like Paintscratch.com's paint. I may do this next week.
Maybe someone with more experience can chime in here.
