I couldn't get my filter off so I bought one of those Lyle tool products. It is an adjustable spring-loaded clamping wrench. The harder you turn it counter clockwise the tighter it grips. But it only works oneway, for loosening. I take a photo of it and post it later.

I had a feeling the dealer parts counter guy was full of it. Actually he's a really good guy, it's just his dealership has that policy so he doesn't carry any tools for sale for customers at least. I'm not taking my car there anymore anyway. If I have something major there is a great Porsche & exotic car tuner only 4 miles from my house. Checkout TKXperformance.com , a PCA Club racer friend of mine highly recommended them for great honest work at a very fair price. Cheaper than the Porsche dealer.
