correct me if i am wrong

this is my experience

mechanics cant / refuse to machine cross drilled or drilled discs. it is literally impossible and will render their machine unusable. it can be done on normal discs though. if you want to machine it due to a lip then your best course would be to take a bit off the brake pads. but if it doesn't annoy you or isn't making any noise, best leave it alone if it remains above minimum thickness

and yes the wear thickness is quite minimal. depending on how you drive / brake pad material, this thickness may go in several pad uses over a long time or quite a short time over a series of track days
