I have never removed one. But how to do it was explained to me at a tech session a few years ago because it was removed for the session.

Pop off the red plastic joints on each side. Then remove the 3 bolts on each side. Guys that have a dedicated track car do this. They also remove the top motor and transmission, due to the weight. Then they put on a gutted hard top or if they have the money a carbon fiber one.
