No need to swap the fuel filter on '00 and up. These egas cars have a lifetime fuel filter inside the fuel tank - it is part of the filler stalk along with the fuel pump and sending unit.
Since the egas cars eliminated a fuel return line from the fuel rail to the tank, it was thought that the filter only does half the duty than those in a two-line system. While I doubt that it's truly lifetime, I suspect that it lasts a good bit longer than the cannister type of the non-egas two-line systems, which is what CJ_Boxster is referring to.
