Then that's different from what you initially stated. You made it sound like the dealer was telling you that the clutch would need to be replaced at 40,000 miles.

If he's just "shooting the ********************" with you, then it's not to be taken as a guideline at all.

Average clutch wear may be 40,000 miles (but it probably isn't), but if the range is 15-150k, it's basically useless information.
